MinusX — A data research lab

Our mission is to build the best data agents for quantitative knowledge work. All data work runs the same loop: 1. identify what to observe and gather context, 2. analyze and interpret the results, 3. act, and start again. Today that loop takes too much time, tooling, and expertise. We think an agent paired with an agent-malleable platform is the future of most decision-making software. This is the core of our research.

Data deviates from code in fundamental ways. There is a single correct answer, no online test to "verify" answers, and rarely fits in context. Additionally, the same questions get asked over and over by people who may not know the nuances of the domain. The secret sauce to effective analysis is often as much uncovering "unknown unknown" context as it is intelligence.

Our first product (the way we deliver our research today) — is a BI shell built around the agent. We inverted the typical BI stack: instead of a platform with an agent bolted on, our agent is the primary user, and the BI is a malleable shell users interact with. MinusX serves founders who need fast, accurate answers, data teams who need to get their customers to data quickly, and companies building domain-specific intelligence.

If we get this right, the effect will be equivalent to running an auto-research loop on all decision-making.
